  • Quote: “My core motto is, “Believe in yourself and all things are possible!” Fitness and nutrition have been a source of positive energy in my life and I love sharing experiences with others. It has been amazing to find so many other women motivated by similar interests – and those that wish they were. The concept to create Empowering Women Thru Motion was all about taking the passion we have in ourselves and providing an outlet for others to share it together. The programs and events being created have an incredible professional approach that is stimulated by the enthusiasm of the mentors and members.”

Secretary

Eileen has been a Montvale resident for over 15 years and works as Supplier Governance Manager with a large financial service company. Her professional background includes program management, and consulting roles working in academic research, genetic banking startups and large financial service companies.

She and her husband Rick have two beautiful, active teenage daughters.  The family enjoys hikes and exploring New York City.  They are animal lovers and participate in animal rescue volunteer work.

Eileen never considered herself athletic and always wanted to be one of those people who could throw a pair of sneakers on and go for a run. When both parents had heart attacks she was determined to take control of her health with exercise and stress reduction.  This year Eileen will complete her 8th half marathon.

Eileen is looking forward to contributing to Empowering Women Thru Motion and helping empower other women just like herself.

Robyn Behring

Robyn is a free spirited soul who becomes passionate about everything she chooses to pursue. She took up running in her 30’s with the goal of completing the New York City marathon. Nine marathons later she can’t quite seem to put it down.

She studied and practiced tai chi chuan for many years before meeting her current teacher with whom she has studied for over a decade. With a fourth degree black sash and a teaching certification under her belt, tai chi has become integrated into every aspect if her life, including running.

Fifteen exciting years with a major party goods company has brought Robyn from separation artist to product developer. Currently Director of Licensing, Juvenile, Favors and Sports she is constantly challenged to undertake new roles in the company’s on going growth and expansion.

Robyn’s greatest joy in life remains spending time with her husband of 21 years and their cats. When time permits she also enjoys yoga, quilting, painting and experimenting in the kitchen.

  • Quote: “To be a part of an organization that gives me the opportunity to transmit to other women the joy of movement, the pleasure of being outdoors and the pure happiness I derive from simply drawing a deep breath of fresh air is quite simply amazing.”

Yvonne Ortiz-Cohen

Charitable Giving Committee

Yvonne has been a Rockland County resident for over 20 years and works as an Associate Real Estate Broker with Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage.  She and her husband David have two awesome daughters, who are great athletes, students but most importantly have great character.  As a family they have always been very passionate about sports and being involved in community service. They have done volunteer work with People to People, The Christ Episcopal Church Soup Kitchen, Dressing & Progressing, the annual Suffern D.A.R.E. Toy Drive and Bergen County Habitat for Humanity.

Yvonne has a strong belief in a positive attitude and the power of encouraging and instilling the belief in one’s own abilities in others.  Now that she is an “empty nester”, she has decided to dedicate more time and energy to other passions in her life.  Besides spending more time with her husband, friends and on her career, she is committed to striking a better balance in her life.  So this year she’s working with two more organizations that have a positive impact on others, and  she’s added spinning, regular walks in nature, and training for her first marathon to her activities.

Yvonne is looking forward to being a part of Empowering Women Thru Motion and the positive impact it will bring to all women.  She believes that being a part of something that supports us in our efforts to be the best we can be, while supporting other organizations that empower women in other ways, is a very powerful thing!

Angela Hansen Gallagher

Angela has worked in International business exporting and importing electronics starting in sales and currently managing all logistics and operations for Global Business Dimensions Inc.  She moved with her family to Suffern in 1999 primarily to have access to the wonderful school system for her children.  Since then she and her husband have grown to enjoy the area.

Angela has always lived an active life enjoying yoga, biking and walking but found it difficult to stick to any program year round.  However Empowering Women Thru Motion has provided a fantastic support system.  With the help of the group, she completed her first half marathon in 2012.  She is currently training for a new goal for 2014, which is the St. Jude Country Music Marathon in Nashville.

Apart from spending time with her family, Angela enjoys reading, knitting, gardening and her pets.

Genevieve M Krebs-Fernandez MD FAAP

Genevieve (aka Jane by her friends and family) has been a practicing pediatrician in Suffern for the past 22 year. A member of the American Board of Pediatrics and a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics; she received her BS in Biology from the college of Mount St. Vincent; her Medical Doctorate from SUNY Health Science Center Syracuse; and completed her internship and residency at New York Hospital Cornell Medical Center in NYC. After completing her training she worked for Health Insurance Plan of NY at Staten Island Medical Group and as a pediatric hospitalist at Good Samaritan Hospital. She had the opportunity to take over the practice of Dr. Joseph Licata in 1993. She has been a member of the Medical staff at Nyack Hospital and continues to be an active member of the Medical staff at Good Samaritan Hospital and sits on the Credentials Committee. She is an Assistant Professor at New York Medical College and has been recently nominated for 2016 Top Doctor Award.

Happily married to her very supportive husband for 28 years, they have lived in Rockland for the past 24 years and have raised three amazing children.

She is eternally grateful to the community that she serves and is always looking for ways to give back. She has served on the Board of the YMCA, has supported the Reach Foundation, Hugs for Hospice, as well as local athletic and church fundraisers and events.

Her fitness interests include spin, weight training, and fitness classes. She also enjoys hiking and swimming. She is proud to have completed her first 5K last year and hopes to incorporate more of these activities into her busy schedule.

As a pediatrician she has concerns about the paradox of living in a time when there is so much organized team athletics for children and yet childhood obesity continues to rise. It will be great to have more programs for those children who are not part of organized teams or clubs. She also has an interest in advocacy for women’s health and well-being and looks forward to working with this amazing organization and its dedicated members.

Her motto is “you can do it, even if others say you can’t”!!!
