Need motivation to get out every day and move?


Join the 1,000,000 steps to health program!

In order to maintain good health we should all be aiming to do 10,000 steps a day. However very few people consistently hit that goal and even less people actually know it. The goal of this group is to reach 1,000,000 steps! Not all in one day of course. If you can hit the 10,000 steps a day target you will hit 1,000,000 steps in 100 days, that’s just over three months. More importantly you will be well on your way to creating habits that will promote your health and well being.


When you join the program you will receive a pedometer and a spreadsheet/journal to record your progress.  Wearing a pedometer is an easy way to monitor your steps. We will help you keep track of your progress and support your motivation throughout the program.  Once you know how many steps you are taking you can start to find creative ways to add steps to your daily routine. Taking a walk is a great way to add steps, get some fresh air and get healthy. Take the stairs instead of the elevator.  Park further away from the store you are visiting. Or better yet, walk to the store if it is local.

10,000 steps is equivalent to approximately 5 miles.  

The goal is a million steps! How long you take to get there is up to you. Everyone who gets to 1,000,000 steps receives a medal to commemorate the achievement!  You deserve it! Accomplishing 1 million steps would be like walking to Washington DC and back (500 miles)!!
